Inserting special charecters (greek letters) into sql server table.

Jo,

There is a logical problem of getting this worked. For example the character Φ has an ascii value of 70. Also ascii value for ‘F’ is 70. So when you insert Φ into a latin collation column it will store the ascii value that is 70 and retrieve it as F. Solution is , make the column as Greek collation (for the example taken)and insert as Unicode character.

create table Test348_SpecialChar (title nvarchar(500) COLLATE greek_ci_as)

Insert into Test348_SpecialChar Values (N’Φ’)

select * from Test348_SpecialChar

Hi Bineesh,

I have tried adding some of the special chars but when I try to edit the content I could see some ??? mark.

Issue that we face is like if they copy paste content from mac os related document with special chars.

Create table Test345_SpecialChar

( Slno Int, Name varchar(MAX))

Insert into Test345_SpecialChar Values (5,’ υ
