Microstrategy – Project life cycle

Here comes the high level project process for a microstrategy BI project

1.

Designing logical data model : This depends on what information user wants to see in the report, and what information is available already

2. Designing data warehouse schema : design an optimal data warehouse which should be a balancing between reporting requirement, performance requirement and maintenance overhead

3. Creating project in Microstrategy : Once we have solid design for the above 2 steps, We can go ahead creating a Microstrategy project. Configuration of metadata and connectivity to it has to be done . Then create necessary schema objects based on the logical data model, mapping them to appropriate structures in data warehouse schema.

4. Manage the project schema :As part of ongoing management of the project schema task such as creating new schema objects/advanced schema objects, modifying the definition of existing schema objects, removing schema objects which are no longer needed and Updating project schema to reflect any changes made to the schema objects
